Clean
Energy

Clean Energy comes in with increasing environmental concerns such as global
warming, depletion of fossil fuels, in addition to the increasing political pressures worldwide to reduce
carbon emission, the pursuit of alternative clean and green sources has become increasingly urgent and
important today. In Singapore for example, the housing and development board (HDB) has begun installing
solar panels on top of HDB flats to capture the solar energy from the sun. In the universities, researchers
have been conducting extensive researches to increase the efficiencies of solar cells. In addition, Singapore
is actively exploring the feasibility of utilizing nuclear energy to replace fuel to generate energy.
Therefore, it is evident that Singapore is taking the lead in the pursuit of clean energy. This promising
clean and green industry, which is growing at a rate of up to 50% per year, is expected to create about 7000
new jobs by 2015.
This course in Diploma in Clean Energy aims to equip you with the various
technologies that are closely related to clean and green, i.e. Photovoltaic Cells, Fuel Cells, Biomass,
Hydropower and Wind Energy. In addition, special niche technologies that are closely connected with the
utilization of clean energy such as process systems, electrical systems and power distribution will be
taught.
Prior to graduation in Clean Energy, you will be given the opportunity to work in
corporate organizations which are in the active pursuit of clean energy so as to gain valuable hands-on
experiences. These trainings will equip you valuable skills as you transit from education into the workplace
after Clean Energy.
