Film School
A film school is an educational institution specially dedicated to teaching different features
of filmmaking such as film theory, film production, screenwriting, and digital media production. In most Film
School, courses on film history are usually incorporated into the film school curricula to allow the students
to have a better understanding and appreciation of how film production have evolved over the
years.
Students enrolled into a film school will also get hands-on trainings such as the use and
operations of cameras, film and video editing software, lighting equipment and other relevant equipment to
facilitate the production of a film. Film school offers other courses such as broadcasting, television
production, animation and audio engineering may also be included in the curriculum to give the students a
broader understanding of the film industry.
Students who are interested in film production can enroll themselves in one of the private or
public film school. Many schools still teach students how to handle actual film in their productions,
although the incorporation of digital media has also risen considerably over the years. In film school, the
use of digital media as training aids is significantly cheaper than the use of film stock and film cameras.
Many schools are building on this advantage to procure more digital equipment so that students do not have to
share training equipment.
In recent times, online film schools have sprung up, teaching students film making through
online forums, articles and articles. Although this may be an innovative way of teaching film making, it will
nonetheless be very ineffective as students will inevitably lack the practical hands on
experience
