Physical Education

Trends of physical education have developed in the recent times to incorporate a greater variety of activities in a normal student’s life. By introducing students to different activities such as tennis, netball and bowling can instil the importance of keeping fit from young. The knowledge of these activities can be brought forward to the students later in life. Not only this, students often use this to take a breather from their hectic life of school.

Singapore also stresses a fair bit on physical education. In the Ministry Of Education system, it is essential for students to have 2 hours of physical education every week, not including holidays and examination period. Every year, students have to take a compulsory physical education test called NAFA to test the physical education and fitness of students. Students are required to go through a series of stations which comprises of Pull ups/ Inclined pull ups, Standing broad jump, Sit-and –reach, and 1.2km/2.4km run. Students will be then graded by gold silver, bronze or fail. A certificate and a badge will also be awarded to gold, silver or bronze for a sense of encouragement to work harder and keep fit for physical education.
