Product and Industrial Design
Product and Industrial Design aims to help students invent products and services that improve the lives of people.
Fundamentally, industrial designers are conceptual engineers - they come up with solutions to problems commonly
faced in daily life, then seeing through the process from planning to implementation.
In Product and Industrial Design, students will be acquainted with knowledge of human psychology, which will be
applied in the inception of their creative solutions. Product and Industrial Design also equips students with hard
skills such as engineering principles, ergonomics, aesthetics and computer-aided design, as well as soft skills,
such as teamwork and discipline. Both types of skills are increasingly vital in today’s dynamic workforce, where it
is no longer adequate to just hold a degree in one’s selected field.
Competitions and industry projects on Product and Industrial Design are also arranged from time to time for
students to exhibit their innovations. Through these, the Product and Industrial Design students gain real and
valuable industrial experience as they continuously challenge and transcend their limits.
As of today, there is an insatiable demand for Product and Industrial Design designers in the market. Students who
are graduated from Product and Industrial Design have found success in diverse fields like object and craft design,
product merchandising, transportation design, packaging design, furniture design, entertainment design, medical
products, consumer electronics, advertising and environmental design which includes signage and building interiors.
On the other hand, many of the graduates of Product and Industrial Design have also started their own successful
design-related enterprises.
