Social
Sciences (Social Work) is a diploma that aims to train and equips Social Work Associates (SWAs) with all the
knowledge and skills needed to meet the increasing manpower needs in 2 areas, the social service and healthcare
sectors. Besides, this course teaches SWAs to provide fast and efficient but professional service in wealth and
case management, counselling and programme management.
In
addition, Social Sciences (Social Work) uses a combination of both theoretical and practical approach which
allows graduates of Social Sciences (Social Work) to have a good quality educational and experiential foundation
to be a competent professional in the social service and healthcare sectors in the
future.
Through
this Social Sciences (Social Work) diploma, graduates will be able to examine either the current or emerging
social issues and put their heart into the implications of these issues for individuals, families and
communities and uses the life skills that they have learnt to implement a solution efficiently. Besides,
graduates will be able to use the sociological and psychological theories and principles that they have learnt
and apply them when they are interacting with them. Graduates of Social Sciences (Social Work) will also have
great organisation skills in planning, project management and other functions within the social service
organisation.
